23 Jan Bacon Tempura
BACON TEMPURA
2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
¼ cup ice cold club soda
10 pieces of bacon
1 teaspoon hot sauce (we use Dat’l sauce)
DIPPING SAUCE FOR BACON
½ cup Ranch Dressing
¼ cup good Barbeque sauce (hot or medium or mild – your choice)
- Make batter by combining flour, peppers, salt and club soda. Using a flat whisk, combine ingredients until they make a pancake-like batter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a Dutch Oven or a Deep Fryer to 375 degrees.
- Dip bacon slices into batter and turn until well-coated. Fry in hot oil until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes, turning once.
- Serve immediately with premade dip.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Deep Fryer or Dutch oven – Wesson vegetable oil
